Toxic Amyloid Beta Oligomer (Aβ42) ELISA Kit (96T, Human Specificity)

Sensitive and selective colorimetric ELISA kit to proposed toxic Amyloid Beta 42 conformers1 with assay range 3.13 to 200 pg/ml.  Highly selective to toxic Aβ42 oligomers with minimal cross reactivity to other Amyloid Beta proteins (see data below).  The monoclonal 11A1 capture antibody recognizes extracellular toxic ABeta 42 oligomers in cerebrospinal fluid and intracellular Aβ oligomers.  This antibody recognizes a turn in the peptide backbone at amino acid positions 22 and 23 which gives the Amyloid Beta oligomer protein its neurotoxic properties.

Background on Toxic Aβ42 Oligomers

Toxic amyloid oligomers have been proposed as underlying pathologies of neurodegenerative diseases.  The AB42 conformer-oligomers detected by this ELISA kit are characterized by extreme stability, including resistance to protease degration.  Aβ oligomers may accumulate into plaques of neurotoxic Aβ42 fibrils, and have been proposed to contribute to the onset of Alzheimer's Disease.

Methods Overview
  1. Equilibrate plate to RT
  2. Add sample to plate, incubate overnight
  3. Add detection antibody, incubate 1 hr
  4. Add color reagents, 30 min
  5. Add stop solution.  Measure OD at 450nm
