Highlights
Specifications
Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) is one of the primary sexual differentiation factors in fetuses. It causes the Mullerian ducts to degenerate so that the testes can form; otherwise the ovaries would form instead. Also known as Mullerian Inhibiting Factor (MIF), it is found in both male and female fetuses and individuals throughout their lives, though it is more strongly expressed in male sertoli cells where it regulates other sex hormones, falling in males during puberty and rising in females in the same period. AMH levels in the bloodstream can be used to guage the amount of eggs a woman has in her ovarian reserve, a useful fertility test. Anti-Mullerian Hormone in the uterus prevents the excessive formation of primary follicles. In embryonic mice, AMH found in the brain may be related to the development of sexually dimorphic behavior patterns in individual mice.
Methods Overview:
The included ELISA micro-strip plate is provided pre-coated with an a monoclonal capture antibody selective to the antigen. Samples are pre-mixed with a biotin-linked detection antibody and streptavidin-HRP, which are then added to the plate. The plate is washed after a 60 min incubation period. Color reagents are added, resulting in a reaction with HRP that yields a blue colored solution. A stop solution is applied to terminate the reaction, and the solution is measured at 450nm.
