Background:
Amyloid Beta proteins are the main component of the plaque found in the brains of Alzheimer's patients.  Amylid beta proteins are usually 40 - 43 amino acids long.  They are cleaved from the much longer (695, 751, or 770 amino acids long) Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP).  The accumulation of amyloid-beta 42 has been proposed as an underlying mechanism for Alzheimer's disease.

Methods Overview:

  1. Equilibrate plate to RT
  2. Add sample to plate, incubate overnight
  3. Add detection antibody, incubate 1 hr
  4. Add color reagents, 30 min
  5. Add stop solution.  Measure OD at 450nm
