Amyloid-Beta 1-42 (FL) ELISA Kit (Human Specificity, 96T)

Sensitive and selective colorimetric sandwich ELISA kit to ABeta (1-42) with assay range 1.56-100 pg/ml. Highly selective to amyloid-beta 1-42 with minimal cross reactivity to amyloid-beta 1-40 (see data below). The affinity purified monoclonal capture antibody is selective to the C-terminus at amino acid residue 42 and the affinity purified monoclonall-HRP detection antibody is selective to the N-terminus of Abeta1-42: Due to the positioning of both antibodies, this ELISA kit detects full legnth (FL) Abeta1-42

Background on Amyloid-Beta (1-42)

Amyloid-beta (Abeta) is generated through amyloid precursor protein (APP) cleavage by secretases. Beta-secretase cleaves an extracellular portion of APP and frees a soluble portion. Gamma-secretase cleaves APP within the transmembrane domain, creating amyloid-beta (Aβ) isoforms with lengths between 36-43 amino acid residues. The prevailing isoforms of Amyloid-Beta are Aβ^₄₀ and Aβ^₄₂. Aβ^₄₀ is the most widespread amyloid-Beta (Aβ) isoform, while Aβ^₄₂ is more fibrillogenic and is the principal Abeta peptide associated with Alzheimer’s disease. This ELISA kit is highly selective to full length amyloid-beta 1-42 with insignificant reactivity to amyloid-beta 1-40 (see data table below).
